This book deals with the transformation of the deep structure into the surface structure of an English sentence. With a transformational generative grammar approach, this book can show how the transformation process selects the words (lexis) located in the mental dictionary to be generated from the deep structure into a grammatically and semantically correct sentence in the surface structures.
